FIVE TIPS TO DETOX NATURALLY

detox

By definition, a detox refers to ridding your body of toxins which can be harmful in the long term, and negatively impact your health. Although detoxing can sometimes get a bad rap, it is the perfect way to kick start a new health regime or diet, and give your body a bit of a much needed boost.

To detox effectively, there is no need to invest in expensive products, or resort to drastic measures, which may leave you feeling tired and sluggish. Making healthy choices when it comes to your diet and lifestyle can really help to detox the body, and leave you feeling revitalised and full of energy. If you’re not sure where to start, Bio-Kult’s Nutritional Therapist, Natalie Lamb offers her top tips to detox naturally:

  1. GO ORGANIC

Consuming an organic wholefood diet of good quality meat, fish, eggs, a wide range of vegetables and salad, reducing contact with environmental toxins, caffeine and alcohol to reduce the toxin load on the body

  1. UP YOUR FIBRE

Consumption of high fibre foods such as vegetables, salads and legumes, with adequate water and herbal tea intake throughout the day to help the stools stay soft and easy to pass

  1. PICK YOUR OWN

Picking wild spring dandelions, cleavers and nettles and add to vegetable soups, salads or cleansing vegetable juices

  1. POP A PROBIOTIC

Taking a probiotic supplement could help to bind to toxins and heavy metals and to maintain regular healthy bowel movements essential to remove waste substances from the body

  1. GET MOVING

Gentle exercise such as walking or yoga is said to get the lymph system moving to help eliminate any waste products
