Imagine a world where you didn’t have to leave the house to go to the gym, where you could have a personal trainer for free, where you could pick a different exercise class every day? Well, that world is here and it’s called YouTube.
For months now, I’ve been using YouTube as a way to top up my hours spent exercising, or even as my full workout when I really just can’t be bothered to leave the house.
So grab your laptop, a yoga mat, some water and loads of enthusiasm and let’s run through my top favourite YouTube fitness channels; I’ve got something for everyone!
If you need some sisterly love, check out Carly Rowena. She’s like the older sister I never had and is sure to brighten up your day with her gorgeous smile and massive dose of positivity. She also has the best bum & ab combination I’ve ever seen, so if that isn’t a reason to check out her videos then I don’t know what is. Carly posts a variety of videos from her gym routines to quick workouts that can be done from your bedroom or even your hotel room. Why not try out one of her ‘One song workouts’? Each one targets a different area of the body so put them altogether, repeat a few times and you’ve got yourself a full body workout from the comfort of your bedroom.
If Carly is your big sister, then The Lean Machines are definitely your older brothers. John & Leon refer to themselves as ‘PT’s,YouTubers, Health coaches & full time happy people’ and if that’s not enough to get you on board with them, then their inspirational abs should do the trick. Full of life and laughter, The Lean Machines will show you how to shed those pounds and tone up from the comfort of your own home. Now equipped with an ‘at-home’ gym, prepare yourself from an influx of workouts to kick start your New Year!
If you haven’t heard of Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach, then where have you been? With 5 years spent as a personal trainer, Joe has rocketed into the social media stratosphere. Not only will his cook books show you how you can eat more and still lose weight, but his YouTube channel will kick your butt into gear with some serious home HIIT workouts. With videos to target the whole body or just specific areas you are working on, Joe’s will get your heart racing and the sweat pouring (and that’s not just because he’s got amazing abs). For those who are new to High Intensity Interval Training, try the ‘HIIT Home Workout for beginners’ or if you are looking for something a little more hard core, why not try the ‘Cardio and Abs HIIT, Advanced Workout’.
Lucy is quite new to my YouTube workout repertoire but that doesn’t detract from how much effort she puts into getting the best out of each and every person who subscribes to #LucysSquad. Each video lasts roughly 10 minutes and it is completely down to you how many times your repeat the workout, so if you’re short of time, Lucy’s workouts are a must! Suitable for a range of ages and ability, there is something for everyone and every part of the body you could possibly want to work out.
For those of you who are Yoga lovers, Adrienne is your go-to girl. In her own words, her YouTube channel is for ‘all levels, all bodies, all genders and all souls.’ I found Adrienne when I stumbled across her online Yoga Camp earlier this year (definitely worth checking out) and have been hooked ever since. There is nothing more relaxing than being in your own space, laying down your yoga mat, lighting a candle and beginning your practice at the end of a hard day. From ’40 Minute Fat Burning Yoga’ to ‘Yoga For a Rainy Day’ and videos for practicing specific postures, Adrienne has it all.
