The Biggest Health Trends of 2017

Wellness, mindful and clean are in the abundance of ‘buzzwords’ to hit the wellness scene throughout 2016. With companies embracing mindful practices and even your next door neighbour exploring the wonders of Hygge, we explore the top health trends of 2017 to get on board with.

Wellness Retreats

Long gone are the holidays of drinking till 4am and waking up at 2pm, it’s now the turn of 7am sunrise yoga classes on white sandy beaches. That’s right, pack your gym kit and yoga mat, because this year you’re going on a wellness retreat. Whether you fancy yoga in Costa Rica, a holistic holiday in Greece or boot camp in Ibiza, there’s is something to compliment everyone’s lifestyle. Whether you go with a group of friends or take a solo trip, prepare yourself for a week of true self-indulgence.

Clean Beauty

Last year we paid attention to cleaning up what was on our plates but this year it’s time to focus on our skin. As a keen advocate of knowing everything that’s going in to the food I’m eating, I now want to know what ingredients are in the products I use on my face, hair and body. To make life easier for us, emerging on to the market are brands who promote clean ingredients that are animal friendly. To get involved, check out Aurelia Skin Care, Dr. Bronner and the Clean Beauty Co.

Athleisure Wear

Now a £7bn market in the UK, gym gear that’s just as wearable on a day out as it is in your gym class is a hot trend for 2017. According to research, last year half of us Britons bought sports clothing for non-sports use so if that’s not an excuse to wear you leggings to brunch then I don’t know what is. With high street brands such as Topshop and H&M jumping on the band wagon, and the nineties well and truly making a return to the scene with Ellesse & Fila, there is more Athleisure wear out there than ever before.

Making its way into our lives at the end of 2016, this little Danish word (that literally translates to cosiness) has got us all very excited at Belle HQ for a long stretch of nights in during these cold winter months. Encompassing everything from candles, fairy lights, fires, chunky knits and blankets (basically an Instagram dream), hygge is all about wellbeing and looking after yourself. Staying in is definitely the new going out for 2017.

Strength Training

#girlgains hasn’t been tagged on Instagram nearly 500,000 times for no reason. In 2017, strong is the new skinny. Not only will lifting weights NOT make you bulky, it will help to burn more fat and increase your metabolism. More girls than ever are getting involved, and with some great ambassadors out there such as @zannavandijk, @tallyrye and @victorianiamh, there’s more reason ever than to start squatting, deadlifting and bench pressing!

Whatever trends you’re getting involved with in 2017, make sure to make it your best year yet!
