Spotlight on Beeswax for the skin

Bees, crucial to the environment and known for being a delicious toast topper, are now becoming ever more popular in the beauty industry due to the benefits that beeswax has on our skin.  Containing a healthy dose of vitamin A, beeswax has been proven to help regenerate skin cells which is vital in the fight against aging skin. It is also a great ingredient for locking moisture into the skin and protecting against environmental damage. Outside of daily beauty regimes, beeswax is commonly used to help treat acne and eczema due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. For a long time I have used a beeswax lip balm and have sworn by it, only to now realise what a positive difference it could make to the condition of my skin. I have been testing out some of the beeswax beauty products in the market at the moment and have picked out a couple of my favourites…

Bee Good’s Youth Enhancing Plump & Firm Moisturiser (50ml, £23.50) and the Youth Enhancing Lift & Brighten Eye Cream (15ml, £19.75)

These products, particularly the moisturiser, are heaven sent. Having only used them a couple of times, I could already see a remarkable improvement in not only the visual condition of my skin, but the feel of it too. You’ll have to believe me when I tell you that I’ve spent a lot of time stroking my skin at night recently after applying these products. They smell delicious and the are not too thick or sticky when applying them. They glide onto the skin beautifully and sink in really quickly, leaving my face feeling perfectly moisturised and a perfect base for makeup application.

Skin Doctors Beelift (£38.99) and Skin Doctors Younger Hands (£30.60) –

SkinDoctors BeeLift for the skinSkinDoctors for younger hands

A perfect present for the Mother or Grandmother in your life, Skin Doctors products will leave your skin looking soft and supple and feeling wonderful. Containing bee venom and natural Manuka Honey, Skin Doctors Beelift has been proven to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and enhance the elasticity of the skin. Straight from my Mum herself, she feels like her skin already feels fresher and more firm after only a few applications and is impressed by how quickly the product sinks into the skin, allowing you to carry on with your normal skin routine almost immediately.

Balmology Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm (50ml, £27.00)

Having received rave reviews from the skin goddess herself, Caroline Hirons, the Hot Cloth cleansing balm from Balmology is my new go-to cleanser. Promising to improve skin tone and clarify congested complexions, this balm is perfect for those looking for a truly luxurious cleanser. Whilst this is product has the ability to be stage 1 of your cleansing routine and remove all traces of make-up and dirt, I prefer to remove the majority of make-up with a micellar water first and go in with this afterwards. Containing 100% natural products such as beeswax, jojoba, castor & avocado oil and containing no water, whatsoever, Balmology is a home-grown product by the wonderful Catherine Lewis in Cheltenham…cleansing doesn’t get much better than this.
